Master Carpenter

The Hollywood Pantages Theatre seeks a Master Carpenter

 

Broadway in Hollywood is in search of a highly skilled, experienced Master Carpenter to join our thriving team at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre, one of Los Angeles' leading homes for legitimate theatre.  As the Master Carpenter, you will be instrumental in the continuing success of the Touring Productions at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre.

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Master Carpenter in legitimate theater, or as a Production Carpenter on a touring production.
  • Must have excellent leadership, communication, and time management skills, as well as the ability to work efficiently and cooperatively with a variety of personalities, in a time-constrained and rapidly changing work environment
  • Knowledge, enforce and adhere to strict safety protocols and regulations, fostering a secure working environment for all employees. This includes overhead rigging and fire regulations.
  • Take charge of the Local Crews, working with Production Touring Crews, providing expert guidance to ensure projects are completed with precision, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Knowledge of the needs of all departments associated with theatrical production, including load-ins, performances, load-outs, and maintenance calls
  • Complete stagecraft skill set is necessary, knowledge of all Stage Equipment with extensive knowledge of industry standard safety practices, operating practices, theatrical rigging practices, counterweight rigging systems, as well as demonstrated experience implementing, using, and maintaining such systems. Experience in woodwork, construction, uses of power and hand woodworking tools.
  • Must have wide-ranging working knowledge of CAD (Vector works/AutoCAD), Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and the ability to communicate via e­mail
  • Experience reading and implementing rigging plots and hanging plots from scaled technical drawings.
  • Preferred additional experience to include touring production experience, theatrical automation equipment, specialty rigging equipment, and ETCP certification or the willingness to become ETCP certified.
  • The Hollywood Pantages Theatre is a 100% Roadhouse. The willingness to work with Touring Companies and Touring employees is a MUST.

 

REPORTING TO: Technical Director

 

WORK SCHEDULE: Regularly 8 shows per week plus show work calls and venue maintenance calls as needed. Schedule set by the touring show and Technical Director.

 

COMPENSATION: This is a Union position. Rates and benefits paid per the Local 33 CBA. The current hourly base rate is $53.96.

Head of Wardrobe Department

The Pantages Theatre seeks a Head of Wardrobe Department

Job description/ Responsibilities:

Oversees the wardrobe department for all incoming productions. Responsible for all costume elements on a production from the time they load into the time they pack out.

  • Supervise dressers, stitchers, and laundry crew, ensuring costumes are properly cleaned and maintained for the run of a show.
  • Manage, supervise, and schedule members of the Wardrobe team including the Wardrobe Head, Assistant, Dressers, and Laundry
  • Assign dresser tracks as needed (per show requirements).
  • Work alongside touring wardrobe supervisors to establish the needs of the production and how to best execute the vison of the show.
  • Be responsible for a dresser track for each incoming production, as needed.
  • Submit payroll / sign in sheets weekly to the Technical Director.
  • Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and costume understudy rehearsals as required.
  • Comply with the Theatre’s Health and Safety and other policies.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of costume maintenance including laundry and fabric cleaning techniques.

  • Knowledge of hand and machine sewing techniques and experience using sewing machines, steamers, irons and washer and dryers.

  • Ability to make alterations and repairs to costumes.

  • Extensive experience with dressing for live performance/theatre.

  • Previous experience as Head of wardrobe department

  • Prior experience in management of run crews, preferably in a union environment.
  • Demonstrated creative judgment, excellent problem-solving skills, and detail oriented.
  • Strong ability to lead a team, delegate and communicate effectively and resolve conflict across multiple departments and with dynamic people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with a variety of performers, crew members, and personality types.

(The Hollywood Pantages Theatre is a Road House. The willingness to work with Touring Companies and Touring employees is a must.)
