Every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the Great Los Angeles Walk debunks all of those cliches about walking in L.A. Hundreds of walkers start the free urban hike on one side of the city and, nine hours and nearly 16 miles later, end up at the other.
Thanksgiving at Home
"Thanksgiving at Home" takes on a whole new meaning this year! But one thing remains the same: our overwhelming gratitude for our favorite theatre lovers. Below is a helpful guide to finding the best feasts, pies, arts & crafts, outdoor family activities, & ways to give back! This is our way of saying Thank You.

OUTDOOR FAMILY ACTIVITIES
On Sunday evenings in November, you can roll up to the valet parking lot (enter on Orange Drive) at Hollywood’s most beautiful hotel for a slate of drive-in screenings—including some festive picks.
Riverside’s stunningly beautiful Mission Inn is bathed in 4.5 million twinkly lights during the annual Festival of Lights. The free six-week-long holiday tradition begins the day after Thanksgiving and typically features more than 400 animated figures.
Santa might spend most of his time at the North Pole, but this year the beach is getting just as wintry: Santa Monica's Loews Beach Hotel is bringing back its Miracle on Ocean Ave pop-up, and it'll be fully open to the public and packed with even more holiday-themed programming.
ARTS & CRAFTS
Even if the turkey dinner and pumpkin pie are left in your care (it's better that way), you can rely on your kids to help with the Thanksgiving celebration. Start with these easy Thanksgiving crafts for kids — some of them are simply ways to keep them busy while you get work done, and others double as festive decorations and centerpieces.
VOLUNTEER & DONATE
One in five people in Los Angeles County experiences food insecurity. Our vision is that no one goes hungry in Los Angeles County.
This incredible organization has given out food, clothing, shoes, and blankets every Sunday in Hollywood for over 20 years. Because of COVID-19, volunteering looks much different now for this organization. They are, however, in need of monetary donations to help those most in need during this difficult time.
At Big Sunday, they operate under the belief that “everyone has some way that they can help somebody else.” Big Sunday’s Annual Thanksgiving Stuffing Event is happening online this year, on Sunday, November 22nd from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Volunteers will be “packing bags together, listening to music, hearing from beneficiary nonprofits and one another.” Additionally, Big Sunday will also need help (outside, masked, and socially distanced) on November 23rd through November 25th putting the finishing touches on the bags as well as distributing them.
Project Angel Food needs Thanksgiving angels. This year, they are looking for volunteers to make food deliveries on Thanksgiving Day. This is a great way for families to spend time together, giving thanks and giving back to the community. Masks, your own car, and a few hours are all that are required.
The Los Angeles Mission exists to provide help, hope and opportunity to men, women and children in need. Our vision is to see individuals and families set free from addictions and homelessness.
Your generous, tax deductible donation to Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) will change the lives of over 1 million injured warriors, caregivers, and family members. You will help bring independence back to our nation’s most severely wounded veterans.

One of the world's most famous—and oldest—pizza operations wants to make your Thanksgiving a breeze. Yes, you can order L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele's Neapolitan-style pizzas for the holiday, but they'll also be offering a special à la carte menu that includes whole stuffed turkey, meat or vegetarian lasagna, Italian gravy, cranberry sauce, herbed mashed potatoes, and a roast-vegetable casserole.
Just two and a half blocks shy of the Hollywood border, this West Hollywood restaurant/bar/café feels like the sexy younger cousin to Dan Tana’s. The main room is straight out of Goodfellas, while the café hearkens back to a family restaurant you might find in Rome’s Campo de’ Fiori.
The East Hollywood bakery and restaurant is preparing an a la carte menu featuring roasted turkey, farmers market sides, a selection of breads, biscuits and rolls, and Roxana Jullapat’s pies.
